25 years of building youth power in Kenya.
From a small SRHR initiative in 2000 to an independent, youth-led national organisation — here's how we got here.
Our journey →Four eras that shaped who we are today.
- 1
2000 Founded as DSW Kenya
Established to advance adolescent and youth sexual reproductive health, planting the roots of what would become a national movement.
- 2
2005 – 2019 Growth across Kenya
Opened offices in Mombasa, Kakamega, Embu and Kitale, and rolled out the YESA and YAES youth-engagement models alongside county budget-advocacy work.
- 3
2020 Shifting digital
Pivoted programming online in response to COVID-19, keeping SRHR information and youth support reaching communities through lockdowns.
- 4
2024 – Present Independence as YSW
DSW Kenya became Youth for a Sustainable World — a fully independent, youth-led, locally registered Public Benefits Organisation.
Who we serve, what we do, where we're headed.
Our target
Young people, especially adolescent girls and young women, across Kenya's counties.
Our mission
To empower young people, create a supportive environment, advance gender equality, and foster access to SRHR services.
Our vision
A world where all young people — especially girls and young women — are healthy and empowered to drive sustainable change.
We'd love to hear from you.
We're here to listen, support, and collaborate. Whether it's a simple question or a big idea — don't hesitate to reach out.
